The Secretary General for Diaspora Greeks and Public Diplomacy of Greece, Mayra Myrogianni, met with Archbishop Elpidophoros of America during her visit to the headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in New York.
Myrogianni expressed her deep gratitude for the Archbishop’s leadership and his steadfast support for Greece, remarking, “We feel blessed to have you as our Archbishop.” Her visit to the United States is linked to Greece Rebrain New York, a government initiative aimed at attracting highly skilled Greek professionals from abroad back to Greece.
During their highly productive meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation that could benefit both Greece and the Greek-American community.
Archbishop Elpidophoros highlighted several ministries of the Archdiocese that strengthen the bonds between Greek Americans and the motherland, noting the pride of those who participate. Among these are the traditional Greek dance festivals, which have now become a nationwide Archdiocesan ministry, as well as the Greek Independence Day parades held across the country — including the annual March 25 celebration at the White House.
