Cyprus' industrial and energy vision was at the center of a visit, which was made on December 11, 2025, to Vasiliko by the High Commissioner of India to Cyprus, Manish, which is part of the framework of strengthening cooperation between the two countries, with an emphasis on infrastructure and the development prospects of the wider region.
According to an announcement from the Cyprus Ports Authority, the central point of the visit was the presentation of the new industrial port of Vasiliko, a project of national importance being implemented by the Cyprus Ports Authority and aiming to become a reference point for the country's industrial and energy activity.
During the visit, the High Commissioner of India referred to his country's growing interest in infrastructure cooperation and recognized Cyprus's strategic position as a reliable transit and business partner in the region.
The Authority was represented during the visit by the President of the Board of Directors, Zenona Apostolos, the Vice President, Christiana Iakovidou, the General Manager, Anthimos Christodoulides, as well as the Director of the Port of Larnaca, Michalis Kefalonitis.
The President of the Ports Authority said that the port of Vasiliko is an investment with multiple benefits for the Cypriot economy, noting that its operation will be aligned with the highest international standards, enhancing competitiveness and attracting new investments.
The Director General of the Authority thoroughly developed the design and technical specifications of the project, focusing on its operational flexibility and its role as a multi-purpose hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. At the same time, officials of the Authority presented the implementation schedules, the planned facilities, and the possibilities for future expansion.
