Nine students from Eretria, Evia, recently built a unique and eco-friendly dog house.

'Fluffy Shelter' was nailed together using recycled/ biodegradable materials.

Not to mention, the innovative dog house features a rooftop garden!

"The roof can become a beautiful garden, with flowers and plants... Its walls are coated with a special paint for blackboards and the owners will be able to paint the side surfaces. There are plastic bottles that are filled with sawdust, so that they offer insulation and in addition, so that there are no leaks during watering. There is also an asphalt cloth on the roof," one of the students told AMNA.

"By buying "Fluffy Shelter", one supports animal welfare organisations and promotes the idea of adopting strays. Also, a large part of the proceeds will be donated to organisations that care for the homeless," they added.

The pet shelter comes in three different sizes.

"The children's idea started from their love for animals, while they took into account the environment, but also the needs of the tourist area in which they live, where there are problems with stray animals," said their teacher Vasiliki Prokopiou.

"Putting the problem of the local community in the foreground, they looked for a way to help and within the framework of social responsibility, they set up their business," he added.
