In good gesture, the Greek National Opera is offering 1,500 tickets to the unemployed to attend the dress rehearsal of Carmen at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus Theatre on Thursday, July 26 at 9pm.
Carmen is the most popular French opera of all time and was written by French composer Georges Bizet in 1875. Set in southern Spain it tells the story of the downfall of Don José, a soldier who is seduced by the fiery gypsy Carmen.
Those eligible can pick up their free tickets at the Greek National Opera on Monday July 23, between 2 and 9pm, and on Tuesday July 24, between 10am to 3pm.
Those interested will need to bring their police ID cards and notice that they are registered as unemployed, in order to receive their tickets.
