Sinead McNamara, the 20-year-old who died in Kefalonia onboard a luxury yacht three weeks ago has finally been laid to rest in her hometown at Port Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia.

Excelling at sports, Sinead played touch football and netball and was also a champion diver who was remembered on Saturday for her athleticism.

Her father Shaun and brother Jake led surfers and around 40 children on inflatables into the sea as they paid tribute to the model following her death on a Greek superyacht last month.

Three cheers were held for the 20-year-old, while her mother Kylie and sister Lauren threw Sinead's favourite flowers into the water from the beach.

The Greek coroner has officially ruled Sinead’s late-night death as suicide.

At Saturday’s funeral, her family asked that her friends remember her “adventurous” life and not her tragic death.

“You lived more in those 20 years than many of us in this room will live in many, many more years," said her cousin.

Since her death, the popular 20-year-old’s Instagram feed has been full of comments about the instances surrounding her death.

There have also been questions about whether it was suicide, with her family last week issuing a statement pleading for further investigation into her death.

The McNamara family strongly believe there are “strange” elements to the events on the yacht before her death as her family was on their way to Europe to visit her.

“The parents with this statement want to ask which were the causes and conditions that led to the tragic event,” the family’s Greek lawyer Charalampos Triantafyllopoulos said in a statement last week.

Her family is also seeking an explanation for why it took so long for medical authorities to transfer her to a hospital in Athens when she had already been unconscious for hours.
