Greek American husband and his partner arrested for wife’s disappearance

Greek American businessman Fotis Dulos, the estranged husband of missing Connecticut mother of five Jennifer Dulos, has been charged, along with his partner Michelle Troconis, in connection with the investigation into the woman's disappearance and is due to appear in court Monday morning.

New Canaan police said Sunday they charged Fotis Dulos with hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence, along with his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis. Dulos, 51, and Troconis, 44, were arrested late Saturday night by state police detectives at a hotel in Avon.

New Canaan police are investigating Jennifer Dulos’ disappearance as both a missing persons case and a criminal investigation and said in a release Sunday that “as the criminal investigation continues, additional criminal charges are expected.”

Jennifer Dulos, 50, was last seen May 24 in New Canaan and was reportedly in the middle of a bitter divorce and custody battle with her husband.

Dulos and Troconis were each charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and hindering prosecution, police announced.

"Based on facts and evidence gathered during the criminal investigation, arrest warrants were completed for Fotis Dulos and Michelle C. Troconis. The arrest warrants were reviewed by a State's Attorney and a Superior Court Judge, who found probable cause and signed both arrest warrants," a police statement read.

Jennifer Dulos was last seen dropping her children off at school on May 24. She was reported missing later that evening, and her car was found in a park near her rental home in New Canaan.

In divorce papers, Jennifer Dulos had accused her husband of infidelity, cruelty and threatening to kidnap the children and take them to Greece. He denied the allegations.

The children are being cared for by their maternal grandmother in New York City under the protection of an armed guard.

Police have also revealed they found traces of blood at her rented home in New Canaan, where she lives with her five children.
