Naxos breaks world record of serving largest amount of Tiganites Patates

Locals of Naxos were on a mission to break the Guinness World Records with their famous potatoes and on Saturday July 15, they did just that!

The island of Naxos broke the world record of largest serving of Tiganites Patates “fried potatoes” at the 8th Annual Potato Festival on the island, which is renowned for its delicious potatoes.

The Naxians were up early and began peeling, cutting and frying 554 kilos of potatoes, which were then eaten by thousands of locals and tourists who attended the festival and watched them achieve their goal by night.

Media from Europe, America and China were also there filming the event in Naxos, which has now taken over the record from the British Fish and Chip Shop in East London, who had fried 448 kilos of potatoes in 2014.
