The discovery of the Byzantine-era mosaic by a Palestinian farmer in Gaza has been hailed as one of the greatest archaeological treasures ever found in the region. The mosaic, which includes 17 well-preserved images of animals and birds, was uncovered by the farmer while planting an olive tree.
