In an exhilarating pole vault competition at the Irena Szewinska Memorial in Bydgoszcz, Poland, Emmanouil Karalis of Greece made headlines with a historic performance.

The 23-year-old athlete soared to new heights, clearing a personal best and setting a new Greek national record of 5.92 metres. This impressive achievement earner him second place behind world silver medalist EJ Obiena of the Philippines.

Karalis' remarkable feat broke the previous Greek record of 5.91 meters, held by Costas Filippidis since 2015. His achievement was celebrated across social media, where Karalis, known as "Manolo," posted a photo taken right after his record-breaking jump, captioning it, "Mood: You are the Best Greek in Pole Vault History."

In a video post showcasing his record-breaking jump, Karalis shared his excitement with followers, writing, "5.92 Greek pole vault record at the Irena Szewinska Memorial. 6m up next?"
