A Greek artisan bakery has opened up in the heart of Manhattan’s chic Soho area, bringing with it a sleek design and delicious flavours that are authentic, fresh and hard to resist.
Pi Bakerie is the creation of Brooklyn-born Regina Katopidis, who is also co-owner of Astoria’s famous Artopolis, which has been the go-to Greek bakery for all New Yorker’s over the last decade.
Her new shop has hints of the Mediterranean everywhere you look- from copper trays being turned into tabletops to olive oil bottles, Loumidis coffee and Greek honey adorning the shelves.
The loft-like space is light, inviting and a great place to catch up with a friend, grab a quick bite to eat or you can also take-away from the long, tempting menu.
The house-made sweets and savouries include cheese pie, spinach pie, pastitsio, moussaka, bougatsa, diples, melomakarona, and mini chocolate baklava. If you are looking for a lighter option, you can try a traditional Greek salad or a selection of premium Greek yoghurt with a variety of toppings to pick from.
And if you are after a Greek-style caffeine hit you can choose from a traditional Greek coffee, Frappe or the popular Freddo Cappuccino is also available.
