Unemployment Rates Decline in Greece

The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced new unemployment figures on Thursday which show a decline in the jobless rate of 19.5%.

According to the latest data the unemployment rate fell to 19.5% in May from 21.7 % in May 2017 and 20 % in April 2018.

In its monthly report, ELSTAT said that the number of employed people totalled 3,824,393 in May and the number of unemployed 924,941. Employment was up 70,052 compared with May 2017 (an increase of 1.9 %) and up 48,884 compared with April 2018 (an increase of 1.3 %).

The number of unemployed people fell 113,718 compared with May 2017 (down 10.9 %) and by 18,029 compared with April 2018 (down 1.9 %).
