Authorities are investigating a family tragedy in Argos in the Peloponnese after a 26-year-old killed his step-sister and then himself in a murder-suicide, which has left an entire neighbourhood in shock.
Reports claim the man entered the home with a gun and shot his young step-sister while the mother of the young girl locked herself in the bathroom and screamed for help.
Neighbours heard the woman and alerted police immediately however by the time authorities arrived the young girl had died.
The 26-year-old man was a medical student and police investigations and forensic examinations are now underway to determine what led to the tragedy.
The horrific incident occurred on Sunday, September 30, when the man aimed the gun straight at the young girl's head, killing her instantly.
The father of both the 26-year-old and 11-year-old is a local doctor, with reports claiming his son was known to suffer from serious psychological problems.
The girl's mother is also a well-known doctor in the community who was heard screaming, "My life is over, I don't want to live."
