The 53-year-old lady in Greece working as a cleaner at an infants school that was sentenced to 10 years jail for lying about her school record has been released from jail.

The five-member Appeals Court of Larissa decided on Wednesday morning (28/11) the immediate release of the lady from Volos, who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for falsification of a Primary degree.

The 53-year-old had given false documents in order to be hired as a cleaner.

She was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, while her second sentence was shortened to 10 years, without suspension.

After outrage from Greek political parties and the general public, she is now expected to remain free until her case is heard by Ario Pago.

Talking to the cameras her daughter said the 53-year-old woman is not in good psychological condition and that whatever she did, she did it to raise her children, and she received the court's decision with tears of joy in her eyes.
