Greece, Cyprus and Lebanon sign agreement on sports and tourism

Greece, Cyprus and Lebanon signed a joint commitment on Wednesday in Beirut to establish an Athens-based International Organisation of Sports and Tourism.

The agreement took place at the conclusion of the first Trilateral Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Greece, Cyprus and Lebanon.

The three Foreign Affairs Ministers, Giorgos Katrougalos of Greece, Nikos Christodoulides of Cyprus, and Gebran Bassil of Lebanon discussed recent developments in the wider region of the east Mediterranean, and focused on the possibilities for reinforced cooperation in fields related to security and stability, mutually beneficial economic growth, tourism, as well as education.

Greek Foreign Affairs Minister expressed Greece’s willingness to strengthen its relations with Lebanon and sent a message to Lebanese and foreign businessmen to invest in Greece, in the fields of energy, tourism, agriculture and modern technology.

According Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), the Greek Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of tripartite cooperation among Lebanon, Greece and Cyprus in order to revive the Silk Road.

Nikos Christodoulides also said that tripartite cooperation will strengthen political ties, renewing Cyprus’ commitment to strengthening relations with Lebanon.
