Are you living abroad and wanting to get married in Greece but feeling overwhelmed on how to start and what to do? How are you going to select the flowers, bombonieres, finalise the decoration details and all the other fine details for your big day, when you are not living in Greece? Well, that’s a headache, right?

Not anymore! Let me introduce you to Weddin; an app that was designed exactly for this. Weddin is a platform, where people can plan, schedule, view and organize anything they need for their big day online and without the need to physically visit shops and places.

It’s the creation of Giannis and Eleni Konstantinidis, a happily married couple living in Athens. It all began when Giannis and Eleni tied the knot. They faced various challenges during preparations. Also, the fact that they were planning their wedding on the island of Andros made things even more difficult.

“This is how we began searching for an app that helps future couples. When we realized  there wasn’t anything similar in the market and there’s a big gap, we decided to create one! At first, we named it Wedding Agenda and later on, we redesigned and improved it and this is how Weddin was born.”

And how does it work?

With downloading Weddin app, you can easily create your own checklist of things; schedule virtual appointments, discuss offers, make reminders, set up the guests list, calculate costs and plan budgets. You can also find all kinds of professional services and vendors.

“Imagine living in Melbourne and planning your wedding on a Greek island or in your hometown somewhere in Greece. How are you going to do it all? Through Weddin you can digitally find anything you want. It’s really a life-saver when it comes to destination weddings.”

Pre-launching era

Organizing this initiative was not an easy task. “Wedding professionals were not familiar with digital wedding planning and at first they were hesitant. Nevertheless, after six months we managed to gain their trust. And then everything kind of rolled on from there. People were informed about us from word of mouth, as professionals were recommending us.”

Supporting wedding tourism in Greece

The app is in the process of soon becoming available in more countries, as the great aim of its founders is to support wedding tourism in Greece.

“We aim to spread the word and reveal many destinations in Greece that are amazing for weddings. It’s not only Mykonos and Santorini. What about Skyros or Chios?”

The Wedding Team

“When we started it was only my wife and myself and now we are a team of 10 people! We are all working hard on this project and we are fully dedicated and I couldn’t be prouder. Few of the team members are students and I am very happy to see them grow through our company.”

The awards

Weddin has received a few very important awards. It has been distinguished at various innovation competitions in Athens and managed to stand out in Youth Entrepreneurship programs. It’s also hosted by the Athens Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ACEin) of Athens University of Economics and participated in the Mobile World Congress of Barcelona.

So no more excuses to hold off your wedding on the Aegean!
