The 23-year-old son of the owner of Greek toy store chain ‘Zaharias’ has lost his life in a tragic car accident in Agios Stefanos, Athens.

Alexandros Zaharias was driving his car on Tuesday afternoon along Trapezountas Avenue, in Agios Stefanos, when he tried to overtake a car in front of him and lost control of his vehicle. The car veered off the road and crashed straight into a pole.

Emergency crews quickly arrived at the scene and transferred the 23-year-old to hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors who tried to save him but his injuries were too severe.

The accident has reminded people of the horrific car accident of George Vakakis, the 24-year-old son of the owner of Greece’s well-known toy store ‘Jumbo’, who was killed in February 2017, when he lost control of his Porsche on the A1 Motorway, outside of Athens. Four people died in total in that accident, including a 33-year-old mother and her 3-year-old child, as the speeding Porsche crashed into their car at a rest area on the Athens-Lamia highway.
