Greece's Foreign Affairs Minister, Nikos Dendias said that UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres would refer the controversial Turkey -Libya maritime agreement to the UN's legal services, so that he has their opinion on the matter.

Dendias made the comments following his meeting with the UN Secretary General in Geneva on Monday.

The MoUs between Turkey and Libya have been condemned by the EU, the Libyan parliament itself and several countries. The Greek minister reiterated that as far as Greece is concerned they are legally invalid, and he called them "non-existent".

"I had the opportunity to discuss the Cyprus issue, the secretary-general's efforts towards a solution, and to show him the willingness of the Greek side to assist him in any way we can," added the Foreign Minister.
