The mayor of Ikaria is urging those who travelled from Piraeus to Ikaria aboard the Blue Star Mykonos on Friday 20th March, to remain in self-isolation.

A few days ago, it was reported that the novel coronavirus ‘struck’ the son of a businessman who after returning from London, ‘broke’ the quarantine regulations and travelled to Mykonos and Ikaria.

Yesterday the 25-year-old was transferred to one of the hospitals in Athens that is capable of treating coronavirus patients.

His girlfriend and friend remain in quarantined in Ikaria.

While the North Aegean Islands remain on high alert for coronavirus, the mayor of Ikaria is asking travellers and citizens to contact their local hospital if they experience any symptoms.
