Caring for our much-loved seniors: Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)

St Basil's seniors aged care

As we get older, everyday tasks become more difficult.

Seniors experience the stress and fear of losing their independence or the need of moving out of their own home.

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) helps senior Australians access entry-level support services to live independently and safely at home.

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) gives seniors the ability to choose the services they need in order to keep their independence.

Eligibility for this program based on seniors’ support needs and age.

More specifically, to be eligible for this program, seniors must be aged:

  • 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people), or
  • 50 years or older (45 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) and on a low income, homeless, or at risk of being homeless.
