Sunday Times- Andros at the top of '25 spectacular Greek island breaks'

At the top of The Times list of '25 spectacular Greek island breaks', is Andros.

It is recalled Andros was also number one on the list of 'Europe’s 25 secret islands without crowds this year', published by the British daily national newspaper, The Times.

According to the author of the article, Andros fascinates with its history, architecture and impressive walking network. "Under-the-tourism-radar Andros produced some of Greece’s wealthiest shipping dynasties, and its immaculate neoclassical main town, piled on a narrow peninsula, has lanes paved in marble. Beyond are beaches for every taste, some in arid landscapes, and a low-key resort at Batsi. However, the main lure on Andros is its miles of ancient footpaths, winding through the island’s densely wooded hills and mountain villages, all lush with romantic springs and waterfalls," Dana Facaros wrote.

Andros’ Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Nikolaos Moustakas, stated that "we are happy that another distinction for the destination was deservedly won by the inhabitants and the local bodies of the island, such as the bright example of Andros Routes."
