Passenger numbers at Athens International Airport (AIA) dropped by 68.4% across the pandemic-hit 2020.
Figures published by AIA show that the airport received a total of 8.08 million passengers in 2020, from 25.57 million in 2019.
Moreover, the number of international travellers last year plunged by 71.6% at 5 million from 17.82 million in 2019. Domestic traffic also dropped by 61.1%.

International travellers
International travellers arriving in Greece are required to:
- Present a negative COVID-19 test no older than 72 hours, upon arrival. At the same time, passengers also need to fill in a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least a day before arrival.
- Take a rapid Covid-19 test upon entry
- Self isolate for 3 days
