European Union to Extend Operation Irini Until 2023

A senior European official said: “The Commission will take a decision next week and extend its mission for another two years until March 2023.”

The tasks assigned to the mission include monitoring the implementation of the UN resolution banning the supply of arms to Libya, documenting violations to a UN committee, and monitoring the illegal migration flows by training Libyan coast guard forces.
