Rama thanks Mitsotakis for arrival of COVID-19 vaccinations to Albania

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, and discussed bilateral relations, as well as the European course of Western Balkan countries, for which Mitsotakis reiterated the firm support of Greece.

The two Prime Ministers agreed that, after the elections in Albania, the two countries are ready to speed up the negotiations for the conclusion of a joint agreement on referring the delimitation of Maritime Zones to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Rama thanked the Prime Minister for the free distribution of 20,000 vaccines , which were delivered to Albania today.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated the long-standing and stable interest of Greece for the National Greek Minority in southern Albania, known as Northern Epirus.

He also expressed Greece’s support for Albania’s progress in human rights and the rule of law, which are among the prerequisites that the EU has set for Albania.

The Prime Minister congratulated Rama on the election of Albania as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2022-2023.
