Today, the head of Greek Armed Forces General Konstantinos Floros, went to Kastanies Evros for the inauguration of a new surveillance outpost.

In a post on twitter, the General noted that "the possibilities for security, stability and deterrence" are being strengthened.

The new outpost comes at a time of great tensions between Greece and Turkey, with the later often weaponising 'illegal migrants' and facilitating their flow into Europe via Evros.

Turkey recently accused officials from the Greek side of the border in Evros of shooting dead a 43-year-old Turk.

However, sources later revealed that the incident took place on the Turkish side of the border and involved Turkish migrant smugglers and one of which involved in some kind altercation was likely drunk.
