Giorgos Giakoumakis signs five-year deal with Postecoglou's Celtic FC

Giorgos Giakoumakis has joined Celtic FC on a five-year deal.

The Greek player has become Ange Postecoglou's 10th signing of the summer, following Kyogo Furuhashi, Carl Starfelt, Liel Abada, Josip Juranovic, Joe Hart, Liam Scales, Liam Shaw, Osaze Urhoghide and James McCarthy.

The Greek-Australian manager identified the 26-year-old after he became top-scorer last season in the Dutch top flight, the Eredivisie.

Despite scoring an impressive 26 goals for VVV-Venlo, the club were still ultimately relegated.

A club statement confirmed: "Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce that it has made its 10th signing of the summer transfer window, with the announcement that striker Giorgos Giakoumakis has joined the Club, subject to international clearance.

"Giorgos has signed from Dutch side VVV-Venlo on a five-year deal. The forward, who made his international debut for Greece last year, finished the 2020/21 Eredivisie campaign as top scorer with 26 goals.

"In six appearances for his country, the 26-year-old has netted once, and has club-level experience playing in the Dutch league, Poland’s Ekstraklasa and the Greek Super League – most recently for AEK Athens."
