Mass demonstrations for the 48th anniversary of the Athens Polytechnic uprising  concluded yesterday 17 November, with the traditional stop-over protest at the American Embassy without incident.

With the slogan "48 Novembers later, the collective memory remains alive", student groups, political parties, unions and Left-leaning groups and collectives of the 'anti-authoritarian' space first gathered in Klafthmonos Squareshortly before 17:00 and then marched to the American embassy.

Earlier, when the gates of the Polytechnic were closed, student associations held a pre-assembly outside the building and marched to Klafthmonos Square, waiting for the main volume of the demonstration before beginning their march.

The rally was led by the Association of Imprisoned Resistance Exiles  1967-1974 and followed the block of NTUA student associations.

The leader of the SYRIZA-PS bloc was its president, Alexis Tsipras, while at the head of the KKE block was its general secretary, Dimitris Koutsoumbas.
