Economou: People are being vaccinated but pressure on hospitals is still very high

Yiannis Economou Greek spokesman spokesperson

“Τhe pressure to the national health system is very high despite the fact that the incidents tend to drop”, government spokesperson Yiannis Economou said to public broadcaster ERT on Wednesday.

“We have said from the beginning that the increase of the vaccination coverage along with the observation of the protection measures and our effort to support the national health system at all levels are the ways we are trying to intercept the spread of the novel coronavirus and to deal with the pressure to the national health system.

“The people are being vaccinated and this is very positive.

“Roughly, 120,000 to 130,000 aged 60 and over have booked their vaccination appointment or have been vaccinated after the announcement for obligatory vaccination for people aged 60 and over.

“There is a satisfactory vaccination rate.

Economou also underlined that the government will continue to try to persuade the people to take advantage of science’s offer.
