Greek airports saw a massive 261.6% increase in passenger traffic, accounting for about 2.6 million travelling passengers, in the first two months of 2022 compared with 718,330 in the corresponding period last year.
A Civil Aviation Authority report published Wednesday on said that scheduled flights in Greek airports totaled 35,095 in the January-February period, of which 22,063 domestic and 13,032 international, an increase of 75.5% compared with the same period in 2021.
In comparison with the first two months of 2019, passenger traffic was down 37.8% and flights down 16.7%.
In February, passenger traffic totaled 1,347,795, up 305.7% from February 2021, while flights totaled 16,877 (10,749 domestic and 6,128 international), up 81.7%.
International passenger traffic soared 537.2% in February 2022 compared with February 2021 (50,410).
All travellers aged five years and over are subject to Greece’s vaccination requirements. This means if you’re travelling with children and young people who aren’t yet fully vaccinated, you will need to factor the cost of testing into your travel budget.
Fully vaccinated travellers

STEP 2: Follow the local Covid restrictions in Greece during your stay. Regardless of vaccination status, masks are mandatory in all public spaces in Greece, both indoors and outdoors. Any type of mask is accepted except for on public transport, in supermarkets and in pharmacies. In these places, you need to wear either an FFP2, N95 or layer two masks (one of which must be surgical). You will need to present your Covid pass to enter most public settings.
What counts as fully vaccinated to enter Greece?
To be classed as fully vaccinated in Greece, you will need to have either: Completed your primary vaccination (either second jab of a two-dose vaccine or first and only jab of a one-dose vaccine) between 14 days and nine months before arriving in Greece
Do booster jabs have a time limit?
No. Booster jabs do not have a time limit on them like the primary vaccination does.
