Greek Australian Jack Robinson claims hometown glory in Surfing | Margaret River Pro 2022

Margaret River surfer Jack Robinson has claimed victory at the 2022 Margaret River Pro, with a down-to-the-wire final heat which saw some impressive aerial displays and brilliant technical surfing from both competitors.

Robinson showed control and determination in his wave selection, attacking the fast, clean 6-8 foot swell for a combined wave score of 16.24 to Florence’s 15.60.

Young teenager Jack Robinson, has Greek origins from his mother Mersina’s side of the family. His grandfather’s name is Vassilis Stratos and his grandmother’s name is also Mersina. His ancestors came from Mytilene and they were among the founding members of the Mytilenian Brotherhood of Western Australia. Furthermore, his great-grandmother, Mersina Skarlatou, was among the first Mytilenian women who migrated to Western Australia.

He comes from Yallingup, Western Australia.
