A man was rescued by a Greek ferry crew on Monday near Megas Limnionas on Chios as he attempted to cross the strait by swimming.

The man was located swimming around 11 pm and had reportedly set off from the Turkish coast. He was handed to a Hellenic Coastguard vessel after the ferry Passenger Ship Nissos Rodos, which services the Chios port to the Piraeus route.
