SYRIZA: Dialogue with Turkey, based on international law, is necessary

Giorgos Katrougalos SYRIZA

Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance MP and former minister Giorgos Katrougalos said that dialogue with Turkey is necessary, on the condition that it is based on international law.

“A dialogue to defuse the tension with Turkey based on the international law is necessary but it must be held on the basis of our agenda, not of thirds, and much less to exclusively rely on the Turkish proposals”, Katrougalos said in an interview with AMNA.

Katrougalos referred to the recent visit of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stating that “he did not ask for something because he has taken all he wanted”.

On the “Katrougalos Law” he said that “There is a cloud of propaganda and misleading around the law. It was a right measure when it was applied that today creates injustices for the simple reason that the high inflation undermines the pensioners’ income. Alexis Tsipras engaged that we will address this subsequent injustice”.

Katrougalos appeared optimistic for the elections’ result and explained “Personally, I believe before the dilemma of the upcoming elections, continuation of the government of the right and Mitsotakis’ system or a new, democratic government, there is already the majority’s result and it is progressive”.
