"You decided for us... without us": With these words appearing on the banner, the students keep the main gate of the 2nd High School of Heraklion shut, occupying it, because their principal is leaving!
In this way, the students of the High School are sending their message to the ministry for the principal, Manolis Hoursanidis, to remain in his position, according Nea Kriti reported.
The 15-member proposal was upvoted by the students and yesterday the High School did not function because it had a single request: "The new principal does not take office."
As difficult as it is for the students of the High School to understand, there are laws defined by the ministry that requires the principal's change. None-the-less, the occupation had special symbolism and was an act of honour for Mr. Hoursanidis, which moved him deeply.
He, however, asked them for the school to function normally today, saying a huge "thank you" for all the mobilisation.
In his relevant informational note to parents and guardians about the occupation, he stated that their act is the "most beautiful point in his long tenure" in education.
Not without reason of course since with this move the students publicly recognised his excellent work.
