Tragic Incidents Claim Lives of Bathers in Corfu, Ermioni, Chania, and Elefsina

A series of heartbreaking incidents unfolded as four individuals tragically drowned in separate locations across Corfu, Ermioni, Chania, and Elefsina.

Among the victims were a 55-year-old man and three elderly individuals. The local Port Authorities have initiated a preliminary investigation into these unfortunate events.

In Nea Peramou, a distressing incident occurred when an 85-year-old citizen was found unconscious in the NERAKI area.

Emergency services swiftly transported him to the General Hospital of Nicea, St. PANTELEHMONAS, where his passing was confirmed. The 2nd Port Department of Elefsina Shipyards, under the jurisdiction of the Central Port Authority of Elefsina, is conducting the preliminary investigation and has ordered an autopsy.

In Moraitika, Corfu, at noon, a 65-year-old foreigner was discovered unconscious in the sea. Despite prompt medical attention from an EKAV ambulance and subsequent transfer to the General Hospital of Corfu, the individual was pronounced dead. The Central Port Authority of Corfu has launched a preliminary investigation and ordered an autopsy at the Forensic Service of Corfu.

Simultaneously, in the sea area of Thermisia, Ermioni, a 75-year-old foreigner, tragically lost their life. The Kranidi Health Center confirmed their passing. The 2nd Ermioni Port Department of the Port Authority of Nafplion is conducting the preliminary investigation and has ordered an autopsy to take place at the Forensic Service of Nafplion - Kalamata.

Lastly, in the afternoon, a 55-year-old citizen was retrieved unconsciously from the Falasarna marine area in the Municipality of Kissamos. Despite efforts made at the Kissamos Health Center, the individual's death was confirmed. The Central Port Authority of Chania is conducting the preliminary investigation and has authorized an autopsy.

These incidents are a stark reminder of the importance of water safety, and our thoughts go out to the families and friends affected by these tragic losses.
