In a promising development, passenger traffic at Athens International Airport experienced a significant surge in June, with a remarkable growth rate of 19.8% compared to the same month last year. According to ANA reports, the total number of passengers reached 2.92 million.

Furthermore, when compared to the corresponding period in 2019, passenger traffic displayed an impressive increase of 11.7%. Both domestic and international passenger traffic surpassed the levels recorded in 2022, with growth rates of 16.9% and 21.2%, respectively.

Compared to 2019, domestic and international passenger traffic exhibited notable growth of 16.3% and 9.7%, respectively. These statistics highlight the ongoing recovery and resilience of the aviation sector.

During the first six months of 2023, the cumulative passenger traffic amounted to 12.07 million, reflecting a substantial growth of 34.5% compared to 2022 and a solid increase of 7.2% when compared to 2019. Notably, domestic and international traffic recorded remarkable growth rates of 26.5% and 38.5% in the January-June period, compared to 2022, while showing respectable growth of 9.8% and 6.0%, respectively, when compared to 2019.

In terms of scheduled flights, the number for the six-month period stood at 105,607, indicating a notable increase of 15.5% compared to 2022 and a steady rise of 4.6% compared to 2019. Domestic and international flights witnessed growth rates of 9.1% and 21.1%, respectively, compared to 2022, while showing respectable growth of 8.2% and 2.0%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019.

These figures illustrate the upward trajectory of passenger traffic and flight operations at Athens International Airport, reflecting positive momentum and recovery in the aviation industry.
