The roster for Greece in the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2023 has been released by FIBA, and it includes Giannis Antetokounmpo along with his brothers, Thanasis and Kostas.

However, Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently awaiting clearance from the Milwaukee Bucks to play for the Greek national team in the FIBA World Cup, as he underwent knee surgery recently, according to CBS Sports.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Giannis' participation, the Greek basketball team has included the former NBA MVP in their roster, and they are eagerly waiting for a decision on his availability.

During the NBA playoffs, Giannis suffered a back injury, resulting in the top-seeded Bucks' early exit in the first round against the Miami Heat.

In the three games he played in the 2023 NBA playoffs, Giannis had underwhelming performances, with average stats of 23.3 points, 11 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and a poor free-throw shooting percentage of 45%.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo, another NBA player who plays for the Milwaukee Bucks, will also join the Greek national team. He only played in 37 games during the 2022-23 season, alongside his two-way contract with the Milwaukee Herd.

Kostas Antetokounmpo, the third brother, is also expected to be part of the Greek squad. He has played for the Dallas Mavericks and won a championship with the LA Lakers during the 2020 bubble. Currently, he plays for Panathinaikos in the Greek basketball league.

Greece faces a tough challenge in the FIBA World Cup group phase, as they are grouped with Team USA, New Zealand, and Jordan. Having Giannis Antetokounmpo in their roster is crucial not only because of the formidable Team USA but also due to the strong competition from New Zealand, who field veteran players with international experience.

If Giannis decides to play for Greece, the matchup between Greece and Team USA is anticipated to be a highly anticipated showdown in the group phase. With his dominant skills and status as a seven-time NBA All-Star, Giannis will face off against a talented group of 12 young and promising NBA players.
