Pep Guardiola travelled to Athens with Manchester City's squad aiming to win their first title of the 2023-24 season and their 2nd European Cup. The "Citizens" won 5-4 against Sevilla in the penalty shootout at "G. Karaiskakis" and won the UEFA Super Cup.

The Catalan, who has also come to Greece in the past as coach of Barcelona and Bayern Munich, after the final spoke to Cosmote TV about the game and Athens.

Pep Guardiola's statements on Cosmote TV:

"It was a match with these teams is very difficult, and you can lose it. They had the chances; we tried to pick up the pace, having chances but no goals.

"In the second half, Sevilla came out of their shell; in this case, the goalkeeper did the job, and Ederson was terrific.

"We tried to get the tempo in our favour, but there were some mistakes, but that's what a final means; we lost a trophy to Arsenal on penalties and won an award in the same process. I'm starting to think about the next match.

"I love Athens; I love the food, there is a perfect climate, and everything is lovely; I am in love with this city."
