Greek Language Students Competition Organised by Sydney Institute of Community Languages Education

This is an event that should not be missed! A great opportunity for all Greek language students to celebrate their achievements!

 

Three weeks left to go for the 2023 SICLE Greek Language Student Competition Greek and Me! The closing date is Wednesday 20th September 2023.   

 The Sydney Institute for Community Languages Education (SICLE) of the University of Sydney is excited to run the 2023 SICLE Greek Language CompetitionGreek and Me!   

 This competition is open to all students in NSW from Kindergarten to Year 10 who study Greek, and it offers prizes for the best entries in every category. The competition runs under the auspices of The Secretariat General for Greeks Aboard and Public Diplomacy and The Consulate General of Greece in Sydney.

 It is aspired that this competition will enhance students’ learning of the Greek language and culture, foster their self-motivation, creativity, and teamwork, as well as bring teachers of Greek from all sectors together in order to strengthen the study of Greek in NSW.

Dr Vassilis Adrahtas

Dr Vassilis Adrahtas holds a PhD in Studies in Religion (USyd) and a PhD in the Sociology of Religion (Panteion. He has taught at several universities in Australia and overseas. Since 2015 he has been teaching ancient Greek Religion and Myth at the University of New South Wales and Islamic Studies at Western Sydney University. He has published ten books. He has extensive experience in the print media as editor-in-chief, and columnist, and for a while he worked as a radio producer. He lives in Sydney, Australia, his birthplace.
