The existing partnership between the two airlines
The current codeshare agreement between Aegean Airlines and Emirates has been successful since its inception just over a year ago. The codeshare agreement offers the opportunity for Emirates passengers to use a single ticket when flying from the Emirates network through Athens. The codeshare allows these travelers to connect seamlessly to one of eight different Greek locations while they connect through Athens.
Aegean Airlines specifically allows passengers to travel from Athens to Dubai utilizing Emirates-operated flights. The travel is seamless between both hubs. Gerogiannis also spoke about the existing partnership agreement. He continued, saying,
"The harmonious collaboration between Emirates and AEGEAN sets a remarkable precedent for a seamless travel experience for our passengers and paves the way for another successful step for the benefit of both airlines and Greek tourism industry as well."
Specifically, Aegean Airlines offers 17 different domestic flights through Athens. In total, the airline offers 53 different destinations across Europe and the Middle East from Athens. Altogether, Emirates connects to over 140 destinations from its main hub in Dubai. Combined, the partnership will look to expand to over 200 combined destinations across the world.
