Daniel storm: The waters reached 18 metres in Tempi Valley! Death toll reached 15

The severity of the Daniel storm phenomenon and the large volume of water it caused is evidenced by the image recorded inside the Tempi Valley, specifically where the suspension bridge crosses it.

As can be seen in the video posted on social media, the waters that filled the valley almost reached to cover the suspension bridge. This means that at that point, the waters reached a height of up to 18 metres, where the suspension bridge of Tempi is located.

However, as the mayor of Tempi, Giorgos Manolis, clarified, the suspension footbridge “is currently standing there. I hope it stays that way.”

In the same place is the church of Agia Paraskevi, which was covered by the waters that passed through the valley of Tempi, as shown in the following photos.

However, the positive thing about the evolution of the flood phenomena is that the water level in Pinios Rive tends to recede in the last hours.

No end to the “water nightmare” in Thessaly

The dead rose to 15 yesterday, reducing the number of missing, given that the body of the 42-year-old man who had been swept away by a sailboat in Pagasitikos in front of his 17-year-old son was found, but both missing, mother and son, from Metamorfosi Karditsa.

Yesterday morning, the 58-year-old who was missing from Agios Dimitrios was also located with the assistance of a drone, while two Austrians are missing from the Irrigation of Pelion.

At the same time, the first image of the villages and settlements is heartbreaking, where the water is gradually receding, as bridges and infrastructure have collapsed, the road network has given way, the railway infrastructure has been irreparably damaged, and the damage to plant and livestock seems unstoppable.

Dozens of houses have caved in, and the volume of water has changed the geomorphology of the entire region.
