Intact Bust of Alexander the Great Discovered in Turkey

The Turkish Department of Excavations and Research has confirmed the news of the discovery of an intact bust of Alexander the Great.

According to the municipality of Duzce, located near Prusia, the find was made during excavations in the Konuralp area with permission from the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums.

The head of Alexander the Great was then delivered to the Konuralp Museum. Archaeologists conducted detailed excavations and determined that the portrait head belonged to Alexander the Great, based on consultations with history experts.

The museum also stated that the head, dating from the 2nd century AD and measuring 23 centimeters from head to neck, exhibits upward-looking eyes, signs of holes in the pupils, a slightly open mouth, and long curly hair parted on both sides of the head and in the middle of the forehead.

The news of the discovery was also confirmed through social media by the Department of Excavations and Research.
