End of electric car subsidies in Greece?

Greece had, and still has Europe's most generous electric car subsidy program. But for how much longer?

According to News Auto, after three years of continuous subsidies in the electric car market, everything shows this will not continue. "Go electric," although still in force, seems to have come full circle, mainly due to a lack of resources.

According to the report, despite the honorable efforts, there are already many delays in the payment of the money.

Whether the program will be renewed for 2024 is highly uncertain since funds are being sought, mainly from the European Union, whose member states stopped the respective programs that were running months ago.

And because the fund is one and the need to finance the effects of the climate crisis, both outgoing (e.g., Thessaly) and incoming, programs such as the market pass have been frozen. So subsidies like "I move electrically" today seem like a luxury, and rightly so.

However, we learn that the Ministry of Transport - to which the subsidy program has now passed - is considering continuing the subsidies, with the main requirement being finding resources. In general, they want the environmental program to continue, even if the amounts are smaller than the current ones.

The general feeling that prevails today is that in Greece too, "Go Electric" will end, or at best it will continue with lower amounts than the current ones...
