According to information published by Ekathimerini on September 21, 2023, the inaugural Greek FDI (Belharra-class) frigate Kimon, is poised for its official launch on October 4th at the Lorient shipyard.

The FDI HN frigate is designed to meet modern naval requirements, incorporating capabilities that cater to various warfare domains. It is proficient in anti-ship, anti-air, antisubmarine warfare, and special forces projection.Ezoic

A notable feature of this vessel is the Thales Sea Fire radar—an all-digital multifunction radar equipped with an active antenna and fixed panels. This radar is crucial for the vessel's air and surface defense mechanisms.

The ship's design includes an integrated mast that houses all airborne sensors, enabling a consistent 360° surveillance. In the age of increasing digital threats, the FDI HN prioritizes cyber-security. The inclusion of two data centers, which run most of the ship's applications, exemplifies this commitment to cyber-resilience.

On the technical front, the FDI HN has a displacement of 4,500 tons with dimensions of approximately 122 meters in length and 18 meters in width. It can reach speeds up to 27 knots.

The vessel's aviation facilities can accommodate a 10-ton class helicopter and a VTOL unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The armaments of the FDI HN comprise 32 Aster missiles, 8 Exocet MM40 B3C missiles, RAM missiles, and MU 90 torpedoes, along with a 76 mm gun, four torpedo tubes, and the CANTO countermeasures.
