Greek women from around the world were honored at the third Greek International Women Awards (GIWA) in Athens. The awards, which began in 2017, aim to recognize and empower Greek women who have made significant achievements and contributions globally.

This year, four Greek-Australian women were among the nominees. The ceremony, hosted by Deputy Mayor of Social Solidarity and Civil Society Katerina Gagaki, celebrated women from various fields including politics, business, and the arts. Attendees were treated to musical performances by renowned artists Nina Lotsari and soprano Katerina Mina.

The winners were recognized in 15 different categories, with the Lifetime Achievement award presented to esteemed Greek performer Maria Farandouri, who has played a pivotal role in the international music scene. The award statuette, titled "The Rise," was designed by Natassa Lianou and Ermis Halvatzis of LC Architects, inspired by the strength and dynamism of each individual woman.

The event was attended by notable figures such as the Secretary General of Hellenism Abroad, Mr. Yiannis Chrysoulakis, as well as representatives from companies like OTE Group and EY Hellas. Following the award ceremony, a networking reception allowed attendees to connect and celebrate further.
