Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni met with the Turkish Ambassador to Athens Çağatay Erciyes on Friday to discuss boosting tourism relations.

They discussed the need for joint actions promoting tourism collaboration and connectivity ahead of the Supreme Council of Greece-Türkiye Collaboration meeting in Thessaloniki on December 7. They also discussed ideas to collaborate with the private sector, local communities, and local government.

The Turkish ambassador expressed his country's interest in reactivating the pilot programme facilitating tourist visas from Türkiye to selected islands of the eastern Aegean that ran to 2017. Kefalogianni agreed that the program had benefited Turkish visitors and tourists from non-EU countries.

The ministers agreed that good collaboration in tourism can benefit bilateral relations and the overall economic development of both countries.
