Shortly before midnight on Monday, the police were alerted to a sexual assault committed by a Palestinian man in Syntagma Square.

A 29-year-old woman informed police officers patrolling the centre that she had been assaulted by a 25-year-old Palestinian man, who rushed at her and began groping her genitals.

Fortunately, the Police, now on alert due to the situation in the Middle East, were immediately mobilised. The Palestinian man was swiftly arrested.

According to a police announcement, officers were signalled at 23:20 on Monday. The 29-year-old woman was walking in Syntagma Square when the young foreign man suddenly approached her and tried to engage in conversation with her.

The girl ignored him and tried to avoid him. Stubborn and determined to carry out the sick plan he had in mind, the 25-year-old continued to talk to her, and when she quickened her pace to walk away, he attacked her.

He grabbed her hand to bring her to him, and when the girl pushed him away, he pounced on her a second time, with one hand grabbing her buttocks and the other her genitals. Screaming, the young woman ran to the police and told them exactly what had happened.

They mobilised immediately, and within a few minutes, they managed to locate the perpetrator, handcuff him, and take him to the Regimental Security Department.

In fact, according to News It, the investigation revealed that the specific man was also harassing other women on the same day at the same place.
