November 21 is Armed Forces Day in Greece where we thank our soldiers

Armed Forces

November 21 is a day to celebrate the Greek Armed Forces and the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, their patroness.

The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos to the Temple, celebrates Mary's parents, Joachim and Anne, receiving a heavenly message that they would have a child and the preparation for her role as Mother of God.

The Virgin Mary is the Patroness of the Greek Armed Forces, and today her feast day is celebrated.

Given this, in the midst of many challenges against Turkish aggression, the officers of Greece's army, navy and air force are constantly guarding Greek land, sea and air borders with courage and self-sacrifice.

To commemorate today, Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias said on Twitter: "Homeland Guards. Supporters of society in difficult times. Many Years to our Armed Forces!"
