Lesvos Geopark and San'in Kaigan Geopark in Japan agree to cooperate

Japan's San'in Kaigan geopark

Cooperation between the Lesvos Geopark and San'in Kaigan in Japan was decided during the visit of a high-level delegation from the Japanese Geopark to Lesvos Geopark and the Petrified Forest.

More specifically, it was decided that the two Geoparks should implement the following actions in the immediate future:

1. Presentation of the two Geoparks in the respective Natural History Museums and provision of information in both languages.

2. Exchange of visits by delegations on the subject of exploiting the management experience of geological heritage monuments.

3. Reinforcement of school cooperation actions and exchange visits.

4. Promotion of scientific cooperation between the University of the Aegean and the Universities of Hyogo and Totori.

The delegation from the Japanese Geopark first visited the Department of Geography of the University of the Aegean where they were guided by professors Nikos Zouros and Nikos Soulakellis in the Cartographic Applications exhibition dedicated to Lesvos.
