Passenger Traffic at Greek Airports Reaches Record Heights in 2023, Surpassing 2022 and 2019 Numbers

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) revealed that passenger traffic at all Greek airports reached record levels in January-November of 2023.

Comparing this period to the same time in 2022, there was a 23.5% increase, and compared to 2019, there was a 12.7% increase. In the entire year of 2022 (Jan.-Dec.), passenger traffic at all Greek airports rose by 9.6%.

Specifically, in Jan.-Nov. 2023, there were 69,771,387 passengers compared to 61,229,394 in the same period in 2022 and 61,665,799 in 2019. This represents a 14% increase compared to 2022 and a 13.1% increase compared to 2019.

In November alone, there was a 23.55% increase in traffic (2,925,746 passengers) compared to November 2022 (2,369,079 passengers) and a 12.7% increase (2,596,285 passengers) compared to 2019.

Regarding flight numbers, there were a total of 24,842 flights in November 2023, while there were 23,218 flights in November 2022 and 23,774 flights in November 2019. This represents a 7% increase in flights compared to November 2022 and a 4.5% increase compared to 2019.

In Jan.-Nov. 2023, a total of 537,172 flights took place, compared to 528,292 in 2022 and 502,646 in 2019. This represents a 1.7% increase compared to 2022 and a 6.9% increase compared to 2019.
