Farmers blockade customs for trucks at Greek border in Florina

On Friday, protesting Greek farmers and livestock breeders in Florina proceeded to blockade the customs office at the Niki border crossing for four hours, starting at 13:00.

The blockade only affected trucks crossing the border into and from North Macedonia, with the rest of vehicle traffic conducted as normal.

There was no tailback of trucks at the border because police on both sides of the border had ordered trucks to stop several kilometres away from the border.

Hundreds of trucks pass through the border each day from North Macedonia, carrying coal from a mine in Florina to power stations in Bitola, on the other side of the border.
