‘Poor Things’ Exceeds $80 Million Box Office Milestone

Director Yorgos Lanthimos’ surreal dark comedy, Poor Things, has turned into quite the runaway hit at the box office

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, known for his surreal and dark comedies, Poor Things has captivated audiences worldwide.

With its release strategy of gradual expansions, Poor Things gained traction and momentum. The film's success was further propelled by its 11 Oscar nominations, leading to a 37% increase in weekend box office numbers.

To date, Poor Things has grossed nearly $30 million domestically and $50 million internationally, surpassing Lanthimos' previous film, The Favourite. It is now on track to surpass The Favourite's total box office earnings of $95 million.


Poor Things opened in limited theaters in December and quickly gained popularity with a strong per-theater average.
